Moffitt and Robinson secured the Energy Efficient Builder of the Year Award for work carried out at Corick House in Clogher to construct 24 additional bedrooms and new spa area.
Their energy saving measures involved reducing or eliminating thermal bridging, introducing triple glazed windows and doors and fitting additional insulation. A range of other energy efficient features were added that has resulted in there being no increase in the hotels energy costs.
The quality of the build was such that sustainable energy students from South West College made site visits to study these energy saving building techniques. The project was also used by Invest NI for a Case Study in “Resource Efficiency in Tourism Best Practice Guide” which aims to help NI companies in the tourism accommodation sector save money by addressing resource efficiency issues for their business.
